There is no more space for virtual disk VirtualDisk.vmdk. You may be able to continue this session by freeing disk space on the relevant volume, and clicking Retry.

If virtual machines are deployed on to a datastore that has very little available disk space, the parent configuration may report that it is in an inconsistent state and does not show the configuration details.

To resolve this issue, you must free up disk space.

To free up disk space:
  1. Access the datastore where the virtual machines have been deployed and free up some disk space.
  2. Click Retry. The virtual machine should now resume normal operation.

    Note
Clicking Abort suspends the virtual machine, however free disk space is required for this operation. If not enough free space is available, the error message and question reappears.
When the pending messages on all virtual machine have been cleared the configuration will no longer be in an inconsistent state and the configuration resumes normal operation.

This issue may also occur when using snapshots. When using snapshots, the size of the child disk increases over time and you see the same error.
